Wait for it… what’s coming around the bend?
While the world waits for GCI by JNF to open, a whirlwind of activity is happening. Before the first year’s cohort shows up on campus, expansion projects designed to create revenue streams, enhance professional training opportunities, address industry workforce shortages, and position the culinary center as a leading institution in Israel’s food and hospitality sector are already on the drawing board.
Ideas on the drawing board include:
• A 3-month professional training program designed to help soldiers who have recently finished their IDF service transition into culinary careers. The program will integrate hands-on kitchen training, restaurant management skills, and real-world internships.
• A customized training program for IDF veterans recovering from service-related injuries, providing a pathway to culinary employment and entrepreneurship.
• A structured educational program introducing young participants to cooking fundamentals, nutrition, and kitchen safety.
Also of note is the MOU signed with MIGAL—Galilee Research Institute—a world-renowned powerhouse of applied research in biotechnology, computational science, plant science, precision agriculture, environmental science, food, nutrition, and health—to operate the 3-acre agricultural farm at GCI by JNF. They will also consult GCI by JNF on landscape plans and advise on crop varieties, planting and sowing methods, cultivation techniques, etc.. They will be responsible for planting and upkeep to ensure the campus’s success as a sustainable ecological complex.
